\nShea butter, also known as shea butter, is one of the greatest wonders of the African continent. It is harvested from the fruits of the Mangifolia (Butyrospermum Parkii) tree, which grows in the West African savannah. Its name means “life” and is considered sacred. This tree is not cultivated and grows only in wild vegetation. The tree reaches a height of 10 to 15 meters and can live for 300 years. Its flowering begins around the age of 50 years. The Magnifolia tree begins to bear fruit after about 15 years, but it can take up to 30 years to produce a quality crop of nuts, high in vitamins and fatty acids. The fruits are small oval in shape and dark green in color. Their kernel is in the shape of an almond and ripens from July to September. Shea fruits are collected and processed only by adult women. Only they have the right to crush the nuts so that the shea butter is prepared. The nuts are dried and ground into a paste. This paste is constantly kneaded until it becomes shea butter – a universal skin care product, which is considered “feminine gold”. <\/p>\n

Women from Burkina Faso (West Africa) use it to massage newborn babies. It is also believed that Queen Nefertiti of Egypt owes the greatness of her beauty to the daily use of shea. <\/p>\n

Shea butter is extremely valuable because of its ingredients and the benefits it offers to the skin. The high content of vitamin E provides protection from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation and free radicals. This helps prevent the appearance of wrinkles, smoothes fine lines on the face and neutralizes premature skin aging. Vitamin F acts as a skin protector. It has a strong emollient effect on rough, dry and scaly skin. Shea butter also contains a significant amount of cinnamic acid, a substance that acts as a natural SPF 4. <\/p>\n

“Women’s Gold” is rich in trace elements and fatty acids – equal proportions of saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Contains large amounts of oleic acid (40-50%), stearic acid (40-50%), palmitic acid (up to 10%) and linoleic acid (up to 2%). All these ingredients are necessary to maintain skin moisture, elasticity and regulate lipid composition in depth. These ingredients contained in shea butter are beneficial for cell renewal, repair of the stratum corneum and soothe the skin. It is believed that this butter is best for skin care in winter, as well as for after sun exposure as shea butter provides the necessary moisture and nutrients in cold and dry climates.
